North Shore Recycling Depot

British Columbia is a leader in creating product stewardship programs, which means that many items once considered garbage can now be recycled, reused or disposed of properly at a designated drop-off depot.

There are local drop-off depots for materials such as:

  • light bulbs and fixtures
  • refundable drink containers
  • small appliances
  • motor oil and antifreeze
  • medications
  • tires
  • paint
  • pesticide
  • batteries
  • plastic foam packaging
  • plastic bags and overwrap
  • some types of small scrap metal (such as coat hangers)
  • usable clothing and textiles, which are collected for donation to charities
  • cooking oil
  • books
  • large quantities of mixed paper, cardboard and containers
