North Shore Recycling Program office has closed permanently

It has been a pleasure for North Shore Recycling Program staff and volunteers to work with the North Shore community for the past 25 years. North Shore Recycling Program office is now closed permanently. Recycling, waste reduction and composting questions will now be answered by your municipality.

Your recycling collection service will not be affected. The North Shore Recycling Depot will continue to operate as usual.

To report a missed recycling pick up, or order replacement blue boxes, grey boxes or bags, please contact 604-929-3416 or your local municipal hall.

North Shore Recycling Depot

The Recycling Drop-off Depot will continue to operate as usual.

Location and Hours

The North Shore Recycling Depot is located at 29 Riverside Drive in North Vancouver.

The depot is open 7 days per week during the following hours:

  • Monday to Friday - 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (April 1 to October 31)
  • Monday to Friday - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (November 1 to March 31)
  • Saturday & Sundays - 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Statutory holidays - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Christmas Eve - 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day

Materials Accepted

The North Shore Recycling Drop-off Depot accepts a variety of items for recycling, including:

  • Plastic bags, and overwrap
  • Glass and refundable containers
  • Styrofoam (TM)
  • Large quantities of recycling, including:
    • large volumes of mixed paper, cardboard and containers
    • some types of smaller scrap metal (such as coat hangers)
    • usable clothing and textiles, which are collected for donation to charities
    • cooking oil
    • books

Provincial Take-Back Programs

There are also designated drop-off depots on the North Shore that accept the materials included in provincial take-back programs, such as:

  • Light bulbs and fixtures
  • Refundable drink containers
  • Small appliances
  • Motor oil and Antifreeze
  • Medications
  • Tires
  • Paint
  • Pesticide
  • Batteries
  • Plastic foam packaging
  • Plastic bags and overwrap
